The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a regional-intergovernmental organisation founded in 1967, to promote peace and stability, sustain economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress. It comprises ten countries of Southeast Asia.

The ASEAN Leaders at their 19th ASEAN Summit on 17 November 2011 officially launched the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management, popularly referred to as the AHA Centre. The AHA Centre will facilitate co-operation and coordination among ASEAN Member States, and with relevant United Nations and international organisations in promoting regional collaboration in disaster management.

ASEAN Secretariat, with the support of Australia under the ASEAN-Australia Cooperation for the Implementation of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Programme 2010-2015, is looking for the best, most-talented and highly-motivated ASEAN individuals to work as team members of the newly-established AHA Centre for the following positions:

Position open for ASEAN nationals:

  1. Head of Corporate Affairs and Programme Division
    Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the AHA Centre, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Programme Division will manage and supervise activities pertaining to corporate affairs, i.e. finance, administration, human resources and ICT services, and programme development, coordination and monitoring.

Positions open for Indonesian nationals or ASEAN nationals with permanent resident status in Indonesia:

  1. Preparedness and Response Officer
    Deploy ASEAN-Emergency Rapid Assessment Team (ERAT), prepare disaster assessments, situation reports, initial impact and needs assessment and damage reports, and implement cooperation programmes to further improve ASEAN disaster preparedness and response.

  2. Preparedness and Response Officer (Logistics)
    Maintain the Standby Arrangement database of earmarked assets and capacities for disaster relief and emergency response and logistics, and implement cooperation programmes to further improve ASEAN disaster preparedness and response.

  3. Disaster Monitoring and Analysis Officer
    Perform hazard monitoring and disaster risk level analysis and assessment; and implement cooperation programmes and projects to further improve ASEAN disaster monitoring and assessment.

  4. Administration/Human Resources (HR) Officer
    Carry out the day-to-day running of the administrative operations and HR management of the AHA Centre, and implement programmes and projects of the AHA Centre.

  5. Finance Officer
    Carry out the day-to-day running of the financial operations of the AHA Centre; and administer the financial operations of programmes and projects implemented by the AHA Centre.

  6. Receptionist
    Perform receptionist and clerical duties, and support the administrative functions.

The successful candidates will commence their duties immediately and be contracted initially for 12 months with a possible extension. They will be based at the AHA Centre, BPPT Building, Jakarta, Indonesia. The successful candidate will be offered with an attractive remuneration package that commensurate with his/her personal qualifications.
